I would like to encourage you to take the 30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge over at ReviveOurHearts.com. It’s very simple - just follow this link, check off the challenge you are signing up for, enter your information, and begin receiving daily encouragement emails instantly!!

Here’s why you should do this:

  • Encouragement lifts your husband up!! You can make his day with just a simple act!
  • Encouragement focuses your mind onto his needs, rather than your own selfishness.
  • In doing this challenge, you will become acutely aware of every non-encouraging thought that enters or head (or word spoken out loud)!

Oddly enough, since I’ve started this challenge, I have struggled with my mood, my attitude, and my willingness to encourage. I don’t know if it’s Satan trying to discourage me from striving, hormones making me moody, or what…. but I’m going to try to combat all of that (through prayer) by continuing to strive to become a Godly wife! Please pray for me, and strive with me as we encourage and uplift our husbands!!

One of the requirements of this 30 day challenge is to tell someone else what you admire or appreciate about your husband. Well, I’ve done that on a few other posts already, but I’ll do a new one for today…..

  • I love how helpful my husband is around the house! Today he has done the dishes - both from breakfast AND from lunch!! He has been working to declutter our CD area for the past hour or so, and does it all so willingly!
  • I also love how talented he is… we are performing a skit for church tomorrow, and he memorizes and executes lines so quickly (way more so than I!). He is athletic and intelligent as well!
  • I love how selfless my husband is. Last night he went to play paintball to celebrate the 13th birthday of a boy in our church, but a fire near the area they were going to play brought them back to the boy’s house. Instead of not playing at all, Jason volunteered to run around the back yard, acting as a moving target while the others shot at him. How sweet is that? :) (Crazy, too)

Okay, that’s all for now (short but sweet)! Leave a comment and let me know if you’re doing the 30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge!!

Keep on Striving,

Heather

  2. What a great idea! I’m on my way there right now…

  3. How are you doing? I’m doing much better then I did the 1st day! It’s funny as soon as I started I felt like Satan was determined to make me fail! So I’ve committed myself to prayer through it and it totally has helped! I’m glad I mentioned it to you! how many people do you know that singed up?

  4. I’m on board too! Just signed up. We are going to be blessed in the blessing, I just know it deep in my spirit.

  5. Awesome! I hope your husbands are getting their socks blessed off!

Stacey, I owe all this to you… thanks for letting me know about the challenge! It’s so weird, I felt awful for the first few days, like I had nothing nice to say at all! It wasn’t until I recognized Satan’s attempts at stopping me that things changed - I too incorporated prayer into my encouragement, and it has definitely helped!

Thanks so much, and keep on striving!!

    Heather :)

  8. Hey Heather!

Just wanted to let you know that I signed up for the encouragement challenge yesturday… and already I’m seeing God work! I went home from work and I had encouragement in the back of my mind all evening. At the dinner table I got onto a subject that I could EASILY nag and moan and cry about to my husband but I made the effort to explain why he’s wonderful and be an encouragement.

However, at the end of the conversation I had a feeling like I’d just lectured him and probably made things worse. I almost didn’t say anything about it and if I hadn’t I would have started to feel defeated. But something forced me to say “Was that a lecture? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to go on and on.” And my husband turned to me and in a surprised tone (surprised that he was even saying it, I think!) he said “No, what you said was actually really encouraging”!!! Encouraging!!!! Wow!

Because of that conversation he opened up to me later too and told me things that have been on his mind. Finally, we prayed together to end a great evening; the kind of evening where you’re glad to be married and thank God with heart-felt joy that he gave you such an awesome husband!!!

This change has been happening since I’ve been reading The Power of a Praying Wife and learning to pray each day for every aspect of my husband’s life. I’ve commited to praying one of the prayers every day through September. From about day 3 I’ve been seeing my bible on the dining table in the mornings (Justin gets up before me) and twice he’s iniciated conversations about our spiritual lives and what we’re learning from the word of God.

Thank you so much, Heather for the encouragement you’ve given me… I was heart-hearted before about this site but now I truely believe that God is using this ministry of yours to speak to his daughters!

    Keep it up!

  9. OK when I wrote Heart-hearted I meant hard-hearted!!!! Doh!!!

  10. Hey Heather, Please don’t give me the Credit, it’s a God thing! He totally just put into my lap and wanted to share it with you! I thought it fit perfectly!! It’s crazy what satan tries to do when you to glorify God and your husband!! He’s out to defeat marriage , but little does he know that God has conquered all!! I’m praying for you and please pray for me, it’s been awesome, but the 1st i wanna say 5 days were awfully hard!!!! I feel like every wife should take this challenge! I think it would improve everyone’s marriage! Also on a side note, that post on the 1950’s wife…whom we all practically agree with …… I wonder what the modern women would think LOL LOL !!!

  11. I’m so excited!! All these husbands are going to be like Justin, doing double-takes at how encouraging we’re being! :) Rachel, keep on striving! I’m sooooooooooooooo excited for you, and all that God is doing in your marriage! God is awesome!!

  12. I want to be apart of the encouragement challenge

  13. WOw! This is great. I stumbled unto your site by chance but I feel that God led me here. I have been going through some things with my hubby and I want so much for things to be right, walking in love is essential. I will join the encouragement movement as I feel this can open the line of communication with us. What a blessing, thank you.
    I am a striving wife!
