I was convicted recently … I came to the realization that I have been doing my husband a MAJOR disservice by not regularly, specifically, and fervently praying for him!
“The prayer of a righteous [wo]man is powerful and effective.” James 5:16(b)
Now, I pray all day long… and often it’s for my husband, but I’m talking about prayers that are not just for the current, daily, “help him get through his day” kind of prayers. Prayers for his spiritual growth, leadership, career, future, ministries……. deep, life-changing, empowering prayers that only a wife would pray.
And I, the wife, fell short.
Am I responsible for my husband’s failings? His discouragements? Temptations? Self-image? No…. but at the same time, yes!
Yes? Well…. Here’s why I say that:
Are you praying for the areas where your husband fails? Gets discouraged or tempted? Has low self-image? If not, you’re not guarding him against attacks from Satan in those areas. I’m not saying that he’ll be perfect if you pray, but….. it’s been known to help!
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
Stormie O’Martian has an AMAZING book called, “The Power of a Praying Wife,” which I highly recommend for ALL wives. (Not a wife? There’s also “The Power of a Praying Woman” and “The Power of a Praying Husband” …. or click HERE for other options!)
In this book, she not only explains the importance of prayer, and not only gives the topics of what to pray for our husbands…she goes so far as to give SAMPLE PRAYERS to pray!! Sounds weird, but these prayers are so full of the Holy Spirit that it doesn’t feel weird to pray them!
The best part? Instead of praying to change our husbands, the first chapter (& prayer) is devoted to praying for his wife. That’s right… you’ll be praying for yourself to change, to be a better wife. It’s quite amazing, convicting, and empowering all in one.
That’s all I’m going to say for now…. because I’m going to go spend some time in fervent prayer for my husband…. and his wife.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2
Check out the book…. you won’t be disappointed! There’s also a handy little “Book of Prayers” that’s full of only the prayers, in an easy-to-carry-in-your-purse size that’s worth getting, too!
Keep on Striving - in Prayer!!

Well, I just tried leaving a comment, but it doesn’t look like it worked. So anyways, so I’m not a wife or a female for that matter!
But I just wanted to say how nice it is to see people take prayer seriously. As a man and a husband, it’s great to know your wife cares enough to pray for you… So keep up the great work!
Oh, can I recommend a book on prayer? It’s an intense book that will make you think: http://www.amazon.com/Destined.....amp;sr=1-1

Is this book good for ladies that are preparing for marriage?

Alexis, this is a GREAT book… it can start you praying for your husband-to-be (and yourself, which the first part covers) …nothing like covering your upcoming marriage in a blanket of prayer!
